Why I'm Running

Bailey Ryan

My family has called Bayville home for three generations. My grandparents raised their kids on Bayville Ave, and my parents raised me the same way — kayaking in the creek, watching the 4th of July fireworks light up the sky over Connecticut, marching in the Halloween parade at Bayville Elementary, lining the streets for the Memorial Day parade. This is one of the greatest places in the world to grow up, and an even better place to raise a family.

"I'm running because I love this village too much to watch it change into something it was never meant to be."

This community has always shown up for each other. My family saw it firsthand when we organized Bay's Big Bash — a celebration to raise money for cancer research — and neighbors, local businesses, and families came out year after year. Together we raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer research. That's just who Bayville is.

That spirit is what I want to protect. Bayville is at a crossroads — rising costs are pushing out the families who built this place, our waterfront faces constant development pressure, and our small businesses need a real champion, not just a listening ear.

I'm not a politician. I'm a neighbor. And I believe the people who live here deserve a mayor who will fight to keep Bayville exactly what it has always been.

The Issues That Matter

These aren't talking points pulled from a campaign handbook — they're the things I hear on the dock, at the beach, and walking the neighborhood every single week.

🌊

Waterfront & Flood Resilience

Bayville is on the water — and that means we're on the front lines of every nor'easter and storm surge. I'll push for real investment in drainage, flood preparedness, and keeping our shoreline and public beach access protected for the long haul.

💧

Water Quality

Long Island Sound is our backyard, and we have a responsibility to protect it. Overdevelopment, runoff, and aging septic systems are putting our water at risk. I'll fight for the policies and infrastructure that keep the Sound clean for swimming, fishing, and generations to come.

🏪

Local Business

Our Main Street shops and waterfront restaurants are the heart of village life. I'll work to streamline permits, reduce unnecessary red tape, and make Bayville a place where small businesses can actually thrive.

Accessibility

Every resident — regardless of age or ability — deserves full access to our parks, beaches, and public facilities. Bayville should be a village that works for everyone, including the seniors and families who've been here longest.

Tell Me What Matters to You

This campaign is built on listening. Whatever's on your mind — a pothole, a policy, a concern you've never heard a candidate mention — I want to hear it.

Frequently Asked

No — and I think that's actually a good thing. I'm not coming into this with political debts, party obligations, or a career to protect. I'm coming in as a neighbor who loves this village and wants to do right by it. What I bring instead is a professional background in data and business analysis, a lifetime of living here, and a genuine commitment to listening before acting.

I'm a Senior Business Analyst at Progyny, a benefits company focused on fertility and family-building. My job is to take complex problems, dig into the data, and find solutions that actually work — and that's exactly how I'd approach Village Hall. No guessing, no grandstanding. Just honest problem-solving.

Outside of that, I help run Rygrove, my dad's construction company. So between the two, I spend my days thinking about both numbers and the ground — which feels about right for someone who wants to be mayor of a waterfront village.

My entire life — all 29 years of it. My dad has lived here his entire 61 years. This isn't a place I moved to. It's the only home I've ever known, and that's exactly why I'm running.

Start holding monthly public meetings — open, accessible, and actually useful. Not rubber-stamp sessions where decisions have already been made. Real forums where residents can raise issues, ask hard questions, and hear straight answers. Village Hall should work for the village.

I'm persistent and I want to be held accountable. If I say I'm going to do something, I mean it — and I expect you to call me out if I don't follow through. That's a promise, not a talking point.

My plan is to hire the right experts and trust what they say. I believe in science and I believe in engineers. Flooding is a serious threat to this village and it deserves a serious, evidence-based response — not political posturing. I'll bring in the professionals, listen to their recommendations, and fight to get them funded.

Honestly, that's something we'll have to figure out together — and I'd rather tell you that than overpromise. Village budgets are tight. What I can commit to is being transparent about every dollar, pursuing every available grant and state funding opportunity, and making sure residents always know where the money is going and why.

I'm running as an independent — no party, no machine, no one pulling strings. Because the election is approaching quickly, you'll need to write my name in on your ballot: Bailey Ryan. It takes one extra second and it means everything. Spread the word.
